Poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) and poly(methyl methacrylate) were grafted onto chitosan in acidic medium by using cerium ammonium nitrate as initiator under nitrogen gas atmosphere. The grafting percentage showed dependence on initiator concentration, monomer concentration, acetic acid concentration , as well as time of the reaction and temperature of the reaction. Extent of grafting, percentage of homopolymer formation, grafting efficiency and total conversion were estimated. The highest percentage of grafting of acrylonitrile achieved was as high a

It is essential for us to have a deep understanding of the working woman issue and the magnificent task which working women have in developing and strengthening the society. The leadership of woman is a valuable step in the society developing process. The study used questionnaire to collect the data from participants who are female Jordanian working in the public sector. This study used Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) to quantify and analyze the collected data through survey questionnaire. The goal of this study is to disclose the obstacles and the difficulties faced by Jordanian working women in achieving the leadership position due to the discrimination that seems to be rampant in the public sector.Apart from that, it is also aims to find out whether the provision of training can help in overcoming this predicament. This phenomenon might relate to the personality of Jordanian women which might cause male leader to deprive women from moving upward in the organization. Accordingly, this research indicates that Jordanian women are always been inferior with regard to leadership and decision-making positions. In addition, inequality between men and women seems to be continuously existed, making it difficult for women to ascend to leadership positions

Comprehensive Investigation and Evaluation of an Indoor 3D System Performance Based on Visible Light Communication

The abstract discusses the significance of Visible Light Communication (VLC) as an efficient and cost-effective solution in the era of green technology. VLC not only provides illumination but also high-speed data transmission through existing infrastructure, making it ideal for indoor positioning systems (IPS) with minimal interference with the Radio Frequency (RF) spectrum and enhanced security. While previous research has mainly focused on positioning accuracy, this paper delves into the performance evaluation of a VLC-based indoor system. The study examines key performance parameters, namely Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and path loss, in a Line of Sight (LOS) scenario. It employs a single LED and ten different photodiode (PD) locations in a 3D room. MATLAB simulations demonstrate the system's effectiveness, achieving a good SNR with low path loss. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of optimizing the PD's position to maximize signal strength while minimizing noise and losses

Pancreatic Anastomosis Disruption Seven Years Postpancreaticoduodenectomy

    Get PDF
We are reporting a case of a 22 year-old female patient, who underwent a pancreaticoduodenectomy previously for a solid-pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas and was re-admitted seven years later with a pancreatic leak following disruption of the pancreatico-jejunal anastomosis. Exploratory laparotomy revealed a large collection at the level of the pancreatic anastomosis with major disruption of the pancreatico-jejunal anastomosis. The pancreatic stump was refreshed as well as the jejunal site and a duct to mucosa anastomosis was performed. She remains well with a follow up of 18 months

The purpose of this study is analysing leadership has positive effect to the quality of employee in production at PDAM of Surakarta and employee benefit has positive effect to the quality of employee in production at PDAM of Surakarta. This research is quantitative, by taking samples at PDAM of Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. The study population and sample as many as 400 employees were taken by 40 employees. The technique of collecting data using questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis. The results obtained showed that: Leadership has positive effect to the quality of employee in production at PDAM of Surakarta and employee benefit has positive effect to the quality of employee in production at PDAM of Surakarta

Assessment of the Levels of Hopelessness among the Patients with Major Depressive Disorder in Sulaimani City

    Get PDF
Background and Objectives: Major depressive disorder associated with greater morbidity and mortality. Many researchers have sought complex association between depressions with hopelessness. The level of severity of such factors can play role in the causes, recovery and prediction of depression. The main objective of this study is to assess the levels of hopelessness among patients with major depressive disorder. Methods: A quantitative descriptive study design was conducted at a psychiatric clinic in the Ali Kamal Medical Consultation Center in Sulaimaniya City. A non-probability, convenient sampling was recruited of 150 patients with major depressive disorder attending the psychiatric clinic. The data was collected from December, 21st, 2017 to April 1st, 2018 by the researcher of current study through the utilization of structured interview guided by the questionnaire. Result: The results show that the patients with major depressive disorder experience moderate level to severe level of hopelessness. Suicidal attempt is a highly significant fac-tor affecting the levels of hopelessness. Conclusions: The study concluded that hopelessness value on its own the strongest significant factor may represent emotional source and possibly used to handle or cope with depressed mood by the patients

Effect of Carboxylic Functional Group Functionalized on Carbon Nanotubes Surface on the Removal of Lead from Water

The adsorption mechanism of the removal of lead from water by using carboxylic functional group (COOH) functionalized on the surface of carbon nanotubes was investigated. Four independent variables including pH, CNTs dosage, contact time, and agitation speed were carried out to determine the influence of these parameters on the adsorption capacity of the lead from water. The morphology of the synthesized multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was characterized by using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) in order to measure the diameter and the length of the CNTs. The diameters of the carbon nanotubes were varied from 20 to 40 nm with average diameter at 24 nm and 10 micrometer in length. Results of the study showed that 100% of lead was removed by using COOH-MCNTs at pH 7, 150 rpm, and 2 hours. These high removal efficiencies were likely attributed to the strong affinity of lead to the physical and chemical properties of the CNTs. The adsorption isotherms plots were well fitted with experimental data

Preparation and characterization of polyamidoxime chelating resin from rubberwood fibre-g-polyacrylonitrile

    Get PDF
Grafted rubberwood fibre was converted to polyamidoxime ion-exchange resin in order to remove heavy metal ions from aqueous solution. The cation-exchange resin existed predominantly in the syn-hydroxyamino form. The water uptake by the resin was ca. 31 g/g dry resin while its hydrogen ion capacity was 3.6 mmol/g. The adsorption capacity of the resin towards different metal ions from wastewater was determined at different pH values within the range 1–6. The prepared chelating ion-exchanger exhibited the highest adsorption capacity towards Cu2+ ions (3.83 mmol/g), followed by Cd2+,Fe3+, Pb2+, Ni2+ and Co3+ ions, respectively. The results showed that the adsorption capacity depended on the solution pH. Polyamidoxime ion-exchange resin was also used to separate Co3+ and Ni2+ ions from Cu2+ ions using a column technique. On passing Cu2+/Ni2+ and Cu2+/Co3+ ion mixtures through the resin at pH 3, Cu2+ ions were adsorbed by the resin but no sorption of Ni2+ or Co3+ ions was detected. Approximately 98% of the Cu2+ ions could be desorbed from the resin. FT-IR spectroscopy was used to confirm the conversion of polyacrylonitrile-g-rubberwood fibre to polyamidoxime
